I am wanting to add another large aquarium but the only place is in our basement. We already have show tanks in the family room and in the formal living room. The problem I have is what to do with the water if I add a large, such as a 220, in the basement. I don't want to run the water into the septic tank. Any suggestions?

For water changes? If so you can always run a hose out of the window powered by a pump with enough head. Or if you have a garden hook up close enough use a python. Luckily I have a laundry sink in mine.

I have 2 drains, sink and toilet, all go into the septic tank.
I have a transfer pump but would it be able to pull the water up 8' up the steps and into the yard?

Look into a sump pump strong enough to put the water in the yard. If you don't want it in your septic system, I don't see another way.

Depends on how strong the pump is. Best way to know would be to test 1st in a 5 gallon bucket or something.

If you look up the model it will tell you efficiency and loss at different heights see if you can look it up.

I have my 400 in my basement, and I just put a Tee connector on the return side of my pump from the sump and pump it outside my house with PVC when I do water changes. For refilling, I got a water mixer for temp and it puts 80 degree water right back in. It's pretty slick.
