Batman rays?

I went to Fish street in Hong Kong on Monday and in one of the shops they had some strange looking rays they were calling Batman rays. They looked like normal rays that had been cut? or line bred to have wings like a bat! They wouldn't let me snap any pics, has anyone ever seen anything like this? or have any info on them?

Batman rays? I've heard of bat rays(I go fishing for them - they are delicious)...but not sure if we're talking about the same species here.

Seems strange they wouldn't let you take any pics....We have one and almost everyone that comes over for other pups or to buy equipment snaps pics of her. Sadly people have cut normal rays to try to make their own, I certainly hope that isn't why they wouldn't let you take pics..... :/

It's store policy in most of the stores in HK to not allow Pics.

They are cool looking rays but the price is not cheap and many don't survive into adult stage. They need to be kept with fish that will no out compete them for food. Many folks who own these types of rays keep them by themselves.
