I've had my red shoulder severum and chocolate cichlid since they were tiny. They've been in my 360 for ages now and they always keep themselves to themselves, no aggro whatsoever, they're certainly living up to their reputation as peaceful cichlids.

Today was the first time I've seen them really close to one another, and I got the perfect picture of it too! What you see is not lip locking, they didn't open their mouths at all, there was no grabbing and shaking, no strength contest. If I didn't know any better I'd swear they were kissing!!!

Check this out.

That’s great!
A chocolate is on my bucket list, but my severum is fantastic. Full of personality and not an ounce of aggression in him. Honestly, I think his addition into my 125 has actually calmed everyone down now that there’s a fish that doesn’t hate everyone in there.

Lovebirds....or should I say lovecichlids lol

Buddies? Hmmm, I dunno...might go deeper than that...

Just look at those expressive eyes! You can almost read their thoughts.

Chocolate: "Finally! At long last, my dream is coming true! But...why is that bald paparazzi taking our picture? He's spoiling the mood!"

Severum: "Holy crap! What's going on here? Is this bestiality? OH MY GOD; is that his tongue????"

Well I hope they're more than 'buddies' with the kissing and all. But seriously, can these species successfully mate & bear offspring?
