Hi all what is the best feeder fish for a peacock bass
and can you post pic's of the feeders

I am feeding my small datnioides Convict fry.

River minnows or shiners, NOT goldfish unless thats the only option, they are just lower quality food and at best alright when the pbass are smaller. I'm a goldfish convert myself and used to use them alot but now not only is it way better but a ton cheaper to feed something like freeze dried krill or market shrimp. The krill seams to bring out the colors really nice ~Trent

Edit: I 2nd the raising fry but for pbass of larger size you'd have to be raising a ton of them to sustain your fish. I've come across 3 month old texas cichlids and convicts that were quarter size that were probably some of the best feeders I've ever used as well as when I have the time in spring/summer local native fish like green perch, common sunfish, shad, and what ever else ends up in the cast net that I deem safe

haha nice hightimes:ROFL:

but yea if you are feeding them feeders yopu may want to try to get them off of them with some frozen foods.

IME i had a wolf that just loved feeders but they weren't very cheap and arent healthy. so i bought frozen shiners and dropped'em in sometimes he lets them sit then eats'em later or just gobbles 'em, up right away!

and now i put baby cichlid hikari pellets in the fish mouths with a needle nose pliers takes sometime! but then i plug up the mouth with a large sinking pellet that fits in if you dont plug the mouth the pellets float out and all that work goes up in water!

I use to feed mine rosy red minnows. I get them at a LFS, but i think some people get them at bait shops for cheap. Seem better than goldfish, and they have more volume than a baby guppy. I got my fish to accept pellets and dead stuff. Now im afriad to give them the taste of another live fish, in fear that they will get all snooty again. lol.

If you can get cheap cons, that might be good.

I think the convict fry would work, not sure if they are the best, but my friend was doing it and the pbass looked good and seemed to enjoy them.
