Best way to introduce fire eel to tank

Got a 360 gallon, want to buy a semi grown fire eel preferably 15 inches or more. Currently only silver dollars an arowana in the aquarium.

I don’t want to spend so much money on a grown one and have it die. I do hear they are very skittish, and hard to feed and the silver dollars EAT.

I have an empty 40 breeder, should I keep it there until it starts eating, or will it not make a difference, or will this be to tough of a transition ?

Thank you

Personally, just introduce it, but make sure it has some dark pvc pipes to retreat to. Then when you feed you can ensure some food is in his pipe until he gets used to coming out to compete. That’s if he doesn’t from day 1.

If you have an empty 40g breeder why not grab a bunch of smaller ones(cheaper) to handfeed etc and grow them out? They can hit the 15” mark within a year span of you owning a smaller one. They grow like weeds. And you can keep the ones you like personality wise they all are different and have their likes/dislikes on food. Some are more picky over others.
