Hey, I've got a 125g glass tank that has a leak. I need to remove most/all of he silicone from the inside of it. Is there any specific tool that works really well, besides a razor blade?

Also, do I need to use some kind of cleaner on the glass before I put the new silicone into place?

Thanks.

I used a razor blade and alcohol after I finished scraping all away with the blade.

I agree. Razor blade and vinegar or alcohol.

:irked: Dumb stupid razor blades...

Thanks for the info guys. I've got access to just about any caustic chemical I could want, but I'll probably use either ethanol or white vinegar, since they're easy and cheap.

I had used lacquer thinner, the automotive stuff, it worked good.

I used a plastic encased exacto knife and a plastic encased mini scraper, both from 'Richards'

I do not know of any chemical that would eat away at the silicone and not destroy the plastic frames.
