Bichir foods

Hi all!

What do you feed your bichir? My ornate likes earthworms. I try shrimp pellets but never see him eat any. Actual shrimp floats so he doesn't go for it. Ideas to increase dietary variety?

Shrimp, massivore pellets, tilapia and algae wafers is what I offer. Sometimes soaked with vitamins.

Hikari Massivores pellets, Hikari algae wafers, prawns, shrimp and mussels is what I used to feed mine on, switched them up with every feed, hope this helps

My Senegal eats almost any small sized pellet, freeze dried shrimp, plankton and small peices of Tilapia. The larger Polys eats large pellets NLS , earthworms, Tilapia and other pellets as well.

mine will come to the top for cichlid pellets but i always give it worms and shrimp at least twice per week. love to watch them sniff things out

Mine will eat almost any pellets but The staple pellet is omega one shrimp pellet I think. It has an orange label. They also eat night crawlers cut up and red wigglers.

Earth worms, tilapia, cat fish once a week, squid, market shrimp, scallop. Can't get her to eat pellets but she does like the gel food that I give the oscar who lives with her.

Freeze dried Mysis,Krill and baby shrimp aka scuds will float.
