What does it mean when it says Dabola, Koliba, Koloton, Black Volta, Volta or Faranah???
and what is the difference between, them do they look different?
Example: Polypterus endlicheri "Black Volta" (northern)
Polypterus endlicheri "Volta" (southern)
Polypterus endlicheri "Faranah Guinea"

Also what does it mean when it says sp.?
Example: Polypterus sp. "Dabola"
Polypterus sp. "Koliba"
Polypterus sp. "Koloton"

I came across these on Toyins website and i am super curious
http://rehobothaquatics.com/West African stock.htm

Sp. Means it hasnt been described yet. Polypterus bichir bichir is has been identified. Sp. Dabola hasnt been. There is talk of them being wc lap endli hybrids or maybe its own species or somwthing like that.

Volta and faranah are towns or rivers where they were caught.

Not sure about koliba and koloton probably the same.

Lol... not laughing at you but i obsessed over the same things. Will try and find all of those threads. At then of the day some people can easily tell the subtle differences... me not a chance. We've talked about this before but say you have and endli faranah how do we know that se poly wasnt born near dabola and migrated to different water ways.

Now some do say faranah are a bit more brpwn in base color..... for me im gonna have to own both to decide the differences
