Between bichirs, hoplias, oscars, peacock bass and alligator gars. Can you guys categorize them into

1. Would jump if there's something edible on the edge of your tank such as flies. Would jump if nervous or feeling uncomfortable. Would jump if there are other fish chasing it.

and

2. Would just jump anyways.

A peacock might but it would probably have to be something more interesting than a fly.

from my personal experience, here are what I would categorize them into. (p.s. this is just my experience, all of the fish you listed can vary in behavior between individuals)

1. bichirs in my experience don't jump quite as often as others on this list, but when they do they usually just do it for the hell of it.
2. hoplias are extremely predatory and like the peacock bass, if and usually only if they spot something, they will lunge and jump.
3. I agree with the above opinion on peacock bass.
4. alligator gar will usually jump only when they see food, although it would have to be pretty big, but some of them do just like to jump. its honestly kinda a case by case basis with them.
