I have been thinking about getting a delhezi or another senegal for my 55 gallon tank. is it a good idea? the filter i'm getting will be at least 300 gallons per hour. IF i should do it are there any tips i should take note of?

well the only thing i could see being an issue if you plan on keeping them in there for life is the depth of the tank. senegals and delhezi's both get to about 12-15" max length and most 55's are 12" deep, so it might get to be a tight fit when they get older. but for younger ones it should be fine...

I prefer lots of plants and hiding places for my senegal. mine loves to hang out in my plants in my 75g, i probably have 200.00 worth of fake plants in my 75g, and about 50.00 in my 10g(might go live later on). my senegal loves sitting in the plants. and he seems to like sandy bottoms over gravel. plus i feel better knowing there are no small pieces of gravel for him to accidently eat.

its 12.5 deep :(

i love live plants, in the 15 gallon growing tank i have little plant bundles that he hides under while stalking ghost shrimp. in the 55 gallon i'm attempting to spread out different types of plants to make a mini aquatic forest.

anyway, so i shouldn't get another bichr?

What else do you have for stock in the 55g? Should be fine. A 75g would be best, but a 55g would be fine for a good amount of time.

I would go with a minimum height of 18"
