They are shy fish with bad eyes. They rely on a built-in electric field (very mild, doesn't hurt other fish) to locate food and surrounding areas. Give it a hiding tube and/or plenty of hiding spots. Bloodworms and Pellets are my staple. They are pretty territorial with other South American Knives, so leaving them as the only Knife is better. They are pretty mild manner with any other fish as long as they don't try to invade its hiding spot. They are pretty slow growers once they hit about 6" so a 75g can be good for a good while. I had one in a 120g for about 8 years after it was big enough to hang out with the bigger fish I have. Probably had that fish for about 10-12 years.

My bgk is swimming around frantically and eating old pellet remains, does that means he is hungry? He has only been in the tank for 2 hours

I'm most likely going to upgrade the 75 to a 4x2x2 120 gallon

It's probably just exploring the tank. Once it settles in, it'll find a comfortable spot to hover in.
