Black skirt tetra

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So I usually throw some Molly’s or guppies in for my acestros to eat but they had a deal on black skirts for next to nothing so I grabbed those. But unfortunately the acestros decided they weren’t food, so now I guess i have a school of black skirts lol

Lol, those black skirts look surprisingly good with the pink tail chalceus in the first 8-9 seconds. You've actually got a biotope with those 2.

They do look kinda cool in there, I hope my fish that I intended to feed don’t change their mind about not eating them lol

Best of luck with that! My advice would be to not let them go without food for too long and to try and wean them onto dead fish (dead livebearers or smelts) to increase the chances that they'll keep the peace with the black skirts.

If they do change their mind, my suggestion would be black neon tetras or toucan tetras. Similar black coloring, but they may be too small for the barracuda to bother chasing and eating.

I’m working on getting them off of live without much luck. I’ve heard RT cudas are tough to get off live. One will occasionally take tilapia or silversides but I have to trick it and then it only eats one piece and figures it out

Black skirts are great target / dither fish. I kept them with my High fin Wolf and Oscar in my 125 with no issues.
