Share your Blackwaters!

I always fascinated with blackwater. What lies underneath it. The sinister feeling to it. Hope to see some of the same style. I'm new to aquascape, the layout still rough.

720 gallon:
Piraiba Catfish, Nile Perch, Mekong Giant Catfish, Blue Sheatfish (Phalacronotus bleekeri), Osteochillus vittatus, Black Shark & some schooling feeder (Toxabramis houdemeri)

120 gallon:
RTCxNiger Hybrid Catfish, Wels Catfish, another Piraiba Catfish, L018 pleco, others are just feeders

Not much of a biotope but wanted to. Will let go some of the fishes & will put in some Amazonian in there. Myleus perhaps.

How big do the piraiba catfish get?
In captive, I would say 4-5' depend on the space. They get big, they need current, very active cat, like a shark.

They need a lot of swimming space or one hell of a current. Hard to do scape with these guys.

Great looking tanks. I saw in another thread you sold all your fish in the large tank? Is that correct?
If so, what's the plan?

Adding some leaf litter to the tanks can help with staining the water a little more.

Yes, sold most of my fish. I'm planning to create Piraiba tank for now, until the fish reached 3'. I currently have 3 Piraiba, 2 small & 1 big guy. Will transfer the 2 after they reached 15" or so. Planning to put myleus in it but it'll eventually get eaten so it's a no go.

I'm currently using mangosteen leaves. They're rigid & doesn't rot easily. But it doesn't give out tannins. Which is a good thing, I like clear water & at the same time look natural.

Will update again after I fully decorate the tank.
