Supposedly I have a bumblebee catfish, but just found out I don't. He looks like a baby red tail with yellow and black bands. Does anyone know what he is?
It sounds like it might be a South American Bumble Bee Cat. There are 2 cats sold as "Bumble Bee" Catfish. One comes from South America and the other one comes from Asia. Both have the beige and brown striping, but their appearance looks very different. The S.A. is more flat and has a wider mouth, while the Asian has the "shark" body and the mouth is small and is alittle more down set.
Ill tr to get a picture once I find the camera I just looked it up and he looks the same as the bottom picture from the side but his mouth is litterallt the ENTIRE front of his face .. Also everything says their shy , but he isn't shy at all. Hybrid perhaps?
I'm guessing that its a Microglanis iheringi due to their popularity these days. They are a cool catfish that does not like to move unless they sense food (like most cats) but the amazing thing is they stay small, only get up to max of around 4 inches! (I currently have 2 of them)
