I have a tank that had a jack dempsey and blood parrot in I took them out and left in the water It sat for a couple months and I went to drain the water and found fry in the tank before I put the jack dempsey in there it was with another jack dempsey so either it carried the eggs over or the blood parrot and the dempsey bred just wondering if anyone has ever seen a dempsey mouth brood

Well as i said on your other thread. Its not possible to either fish to mouthbrood especially a blood parrot considering their mouth structure. I assume the jd is the father and the blood parrot the mother. The jdxbp would be an interesting cross. Make sure to post some pics if you grow them out.

if you had a pair b4
she could of kept them in her mouth and let them go as soon as they got put in the other tank and shes just hid them
but you may hav a x breed now if the blood parrot has spawned with the jd

Ill post pics if they are a cross breed its just I thought the jd was a female ill have to look closer she is lighter colored time will tell though

she or he must have hid them in thier mouths for safe keeping.... its not possible for fry to hatch in the short time they were in the bucket..

No, they are not mouth brooders, obviously they bred, you did not notice and the fry hatched in the tanks, sounds like a hidious cross to me. Ken

Ill raise them up so ill find out what the are and post some pics they look like dempsey fry but the pattern on them looks a little different than what I've seen on the internet so time will have to tell
