Title says all, I know that male Lizards are aggressive towards their own kind, but I have heard that House Geckos and Anoles are compatible? Any thoughts?

Ehhh.....it's usually not the best idea to mix reptile species but I've seen it done with those two before without any problems since one is diurnal and the other nocturnal. What size is the enclosure?

I think that with enough space, they will be fine.

i would guess that they are, i have my flying gecko with 2 brown anoles (one may be a hybrid with some other kind) in a 10 gallon with an extension on the top that creates an extra 10 gallons. i have never had any problems, with any of the anoles i have had in there. (i catch them in the yard, and if i like them i quarantine them then put them in.) i have had green, brown, and once a crested anole

Actually if you check up on herp forums, mixing is widely scorned, its similar as to how people in mfk react when someone decides to keep arapaimas in a 100 gallon tank. Chances are, despite the space you are given, one will eat the other. This is based on what I know of course. Compatibility determined by online websites is nonsense.

I don't get it...

Above there is first hand experience that such a mix is fine...

But you site that based on internet herp forums mixing is scorned...

Then you point out that 'Compatibility determined by online websites is nonsense.'

So are you suggesting the advice you offered from online websites is nonsense? and the OP would be best off listening to the first hand experience above?

I'm confused, lol
Based on other sources I read, I got the House Gecko, they are both in an extremely heavily planted 10g, and the Gecko has been in there since 11 AM yesterday morning anf there have been no problems whatsoever. But if the Anole were to suddenly decide that he is displeased with the Gecko's presence, it's not a death sentence, I could set up an enclosure just for the Gecko.

No no... What I'm saying is that based on herp forums, you basically do not mix, first hand experience or not, because such situations have even higher chances of failures, where one kills the other. What I referred to as compatibility determined by online websites, is when you go onto care websites, and they recommend you mix your reptiles or such, that would be pure nonsense. However, if you wish to go ahead, then do so with caution and lots of space.

Like I said, I agree with you snakefin that mixing different reptile species is not the wisest thing to do and best left to experienced people, large setups or bitopes. These two species basically have the same niche in the wild (they eat small insects) but since they are active at different times of the day they are really not entirely in direct competition to each other. House geckos are now very common throughout the southern US so their range does overlap that of the green anoles. So I guess you could consider what he has as South East US biotope even though I think a 10 is pretty small for a single green anole (they really do thrive when given more space). Also an adult green anole can not wolf down an adult house gecko.

Well they would be separeted at the first sign of aggression. And there are a lot of plants in the tank, so lots of places to hide.
