Can Ick Survive Out of Water?

Can Ick be pass on from a dried net? I'm debating whether I my tank got ick from my new loach or if it's from an infected net? Wouldn't ick die if the net was dried in the sun?

no. drying out is an effective method for sterilizing aquarium equipment.

ich is a protozoan and is not capable of sporulation like some bacteria are.

even then, bacteria that sporulate are not the pathogenic ones in an aquarium.

so you are safe.

Then that means the ick must have spread from my new loach. Luckily, I saw it on the loach and added API Ick Cure. The fish seem to be flashing less against the filter tubes so that might be a good sign of proper cure.
