Can jewel cichlids breed with other African cichlids?

Yes I was wondering if jewel cichlids breed with other African cichlids such as OB peacocks or yellow labs. Are any African cichlids just curious thanks
 
I'd be shocked if they tried to and even more shocked if they were able to produce viable eggs. now, they could definitely hybridize with other members of the same genus, but hybridizing outside of the genus would be very, very unlikely imo.

I agree. I would say it's impossible. Hemichromis are too far removed from the haplochromines in lake Malawi. I want to say they are in the same lineage as tilapia. Most west Africans are. Malawi and Victoria are mostly haplochromine. Tanganyika are lamprologine primarily.

I'm not a scientist but this is what I recall from various sources I've read over the years.
