When I got the R-zilla 40 gallon it said on it, that it couldn't hold water.

I have two of 'em just wondering if I ever give my reptiles away, if these two tanks could ever be used for fish?

i wouldnt recommend it to be honest. unless you want to soak your carpet or floor with 40 gallons of tank water. it happened to a friend of mine. he had a 40 gal reptile tank and he sold his lizard, and got a red ear slider. he then started adding decor and some fish. like 3 weeks later CRASH! out goes the front panel of glass. poor turtle was in shock for a week. and i have all his fish now. the ones that made it anyway.

i would put an ad on your local craigslist or similar free advertising site. offer a trade for the reptile tanks for fish tanks. people would do it. especially since last time i was at the pet store a 10 gallon was 11 bucks and a 10 gallon "reptile" tank with screen lid was $47. they mark those things up, ALOT.

do not do it. they will not hold water. friend tried it, didn't end well. luckily he was just cycling it and didn't have fish in it. It busted while he was at work. He called me as soon as he opened the door because water was everywhere. It was a 55gal too. It took us 4 hours to clean it all up.

pics would help or test fill and let us know (look for flex). most reptile tanks have week looking seems wich i would not recomend for fish keeping but its worked for a friend in the past. it was only a 10 gallon filled about 1/2 to 3/4 for some newts though and the extra presure from a 40 galon might be to much for those seems to hold. if you kept repti. in the tank befor i would sugest cleaning it out very well befor starting to cycle as their waste will harm any fish you plan on keeping.

May be giving away my loved Bearded Dragon is why I ask, I'm trying to cut some of my reptile pets down due to the economic hardships they give me, as bulbs need to be replaced every two months as they break down frequently. I'm not going to get rid of my three Uromastyx that's a no, no and I'm only getting rid of the bearded dragon if whoever is taking him as the intellectual capacity to take care of him and has a 55 gallon or larger.

sell him and see if you can use the money for a new tank, filtration and fish however fish keeping has its ups and downs too and could also put a big dent in your pocket from time to time, so maybee a bit more resarch into the hobby is in order or maybee you should just cut back if money is an issue

Aye, but nothing like 60 dollars a month my friend..Oh boy...I can afford it, but I just like fish tanks, and my commitments are kind of haywire right now, as I have a Uromastyx that has been living with crypto since '04. And he is going downhill, so I have to feed him via syringe. All together, regardless if I adopt a third, (third one i get my 2nd ten gallon running in two weeks!) fish tank idea, i'm gonna make sure it's a big one. I want a 40 gallon and put just one big boss fish!

55 gallon would open more doors for "big boss fishes"
