Can you connect a hose to a hot water heater

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can't see any reason why you would want to do so. The risk for burn accidents is way too high. Just replace one sink diffuser with a hose adapter and you're ready to go with mixed hot/cold at the proper temp.
I use a hose adapter on the kitchen sink. I just replace it with the diffuser when I'm done so the sink works normally for everyone else in the house.

this is a bad idea hot water from your boiler contains more de-solved metals in it even from the tap for best results add cool or cold water and let it warm with a heater

I have a hose connection tee'd inbetween my hot and cold water with valves to adjust each to the proper temperature. You have to be careful though, other things in the house using water can affect the temp. and you have to becareful about absorbed bubbles. When filling with heated water the water can create a high level of absorbed bubbles which will attach to your fish's gills and suffocate them. The way to get around this is to fill slowly, and watch the outlet of the hose.

Actually, your hot water has less dissolved metals/minerals because as it is heated they come out of the water and deposit on the heating surface and walls of the tank. This is what caused most water heaters to fail. The inside of most water heaters is fiberglass or stainless steel. Some are rock lined but they are few and far inbetween anymore.

My sink faucets are smooth, is there an adapter for that type? I think i can use the washer/dryer outlets with a bit more prime...Thanks guys. I might kill myself fu***ng with a hot water heater.

i guess all i know is once i tested cold water with minimal minerals and metals, about room temp with a bit more and hot with the most. this was a drinking water experiment i ran a long time ago as a school project had several controls and those where my results. i don't remember specifics just the fact that the hotter it got the more their was to be found. i was thrown by this too as i thought hot water kills off bacteria their for it must be the cleanest i was wrong

Your faucet should have a piece that unscrews from the end. It holds the aerator, think I spelled that right, It is a small screen that lets your water flow from the faucet smoothly. You unscrew that and get an adaptor to screw a hose on.

Also, I looked into setting up a water heater for just filling aquariums. You could set it for 78 degrees, and just run it right to the tank. The problem with this is you will have a bacteria build up if you keep the heat that low. Just throwing that out there in case anybody reading this has that thought.
