Tried searching for this info but didn't really find anything. I thought I would ask some ray keepers on here. My first question is can you mix ray species? The exact species I'm looking at are retics and hystrix. Also is there a male to female ratio that works best? I've seen a lot of people just keep pairs. I have also seen people keep trios of 1 male to 2 females? Thanks for the help!

For the most part mixing ray species usually works with some exceptions. Flowers and Tigers can be stressed by some of the more robust species. and retics have smaller mouths so they may not compete at feeding time that well. Retic and Hystrix specific may work as they are similar sized rays but aside from the already mentioned feeding issue with retics, long term a hystrix is a much heavy bodied ray then a retic and if there is aggression this may put them at a disadvantage. Sex ratios I have seen all kinds of mixes ( i have 2 pair of adults in my big tank) but people have experienced male on male violence before.
