does anyone know a way to hook up a canister filter (eheim 2262) to a bulkhead fitting. i dont want anything in my tank, but i cant figure out how to use a canister filter without pipes in the tank.

I dont see any reason why you couldn't use bulkhead fitting. You will just need to get everything sized correctly so you can make the connections. You will also want to make sure you run the lines to the canister in a way that you can disconnect it for cleaning and so you dont end up with a massive leak should you have a canister leak issue or power failure.

Use fittings that are threaded on one end with a hose barb on the other, screw them into the bulkheads and connect the canister hoses to them. If you can't find the correct one at the hardware store, try a boating supply store.

very simple. just take your bulkhead fittings to lowes, home depot etc etc and get the correct adapters to hook your hoses up.
