do catfish whiskers regenerate if the fish loses or damages them?
has anyone observed permanent damage?

My Channel had one of his completely bitten off by my previously owned RB Pacu, and they have not grown back in the past 2 or 3 months.

Depends on where it is bitten off at. If it is bit off completely from the base it usually don't.

what if it's cut? My rtc X tsn's had a lil tussel and one of their whiskers now looks like string cheese lol

Should be fine. Put some salt in the tank(tbsp/10g) and don't replace it with WC's.

I'd be tempted to cut it off to make sure it heals right. Let someone else post in on that.

Yeah i have an oscar that i guess you can say i adopted off a someone bc he was getting banged up and i felt bad. his fins were destroyed they side fins grew back but the underbelly fins have not kinda feel bad for the little guy.

I think catfish whiskers are more specialized than the fins and would have less chance of regeneration
