Catfish with Oscars

I was wondering what kind of catfish could be a tank mate for an Oscar. I know that the catfish needs to be big enough or the Oscar might get it stuck in its mouth. I was wondering how a eclipse catfish or a feather fin would work?

Thanks

All depends on tank size but both your suggestions I would think should be OK assuming their big enough when u get them

both those cats should work long term. male sure they're over 5-6" if your oscars are mature-full grown though.

other cats that would be a good fit: four line pim, ornate pim, various thorny catfish like anadoras. try to keep south american cats over 6". whatever you do dont try pictus cats; the oscars will eat them and perhaps injure themselves in the process.

if your tank is large enough, lima shovelnose make for an impressive display. if your tank is very large perhaps an irwini or sailfin pim.

Either will work. I had a feather fin with an Oscar years ago that worked great.

I would suggest something that kind of stays tucked away. I don't really consider Oscars aggressive, but they can be some bullies unless in a big tank.

I know I’m a bit late to this but I highly recommend the feather fin. I’ve kept Oscars for quite some time now and I’ve never had an issue with those catfish. Also a black Lancer catfish can be a really cool looking catfish that can work well.

I had two tandanus in my old Oscar tank adn never had a problem at all

two tandanus and two oscars happily living together
