Channa Assam or Gachua?

Good day to all,

I have been keeping this fellow for almost a month but still can't positively ID which species of channa this is. Picture as below -

That's the second snakehead that I've seen on here that I had to do a double take on. All I know of these fish is what the media hype has put into my head. I never knew they could be so colorful and attractive. I am beginning to understand the reason behind the snakehead keepers attraction to the fish.

Btw, I'm sorry I obviously cannot help with a answer. I know next to nothing about snakeheads. Gorgeous specimen you have there tho.
 
Neither Assam or Gachua.

That is a Channa sp. Redfin.

A very washed out looking one too!

100% agree with TGM.. it's Channa sp.Redfin.. i have them also.. i heard their base colour will change to black when they grown to adult and also good water quality.. hope it helps.:popcorn:
 
My Channas sp. Redfin is about 3.5" in size now. Is it consider as a juvenile or adult?
