Has anybody any experience with supplementing channa food with spirulina and/or vitamins? I always add it to the shrimp/pea mix for my cichlids and thought I might try it with my channa by mixing it with a minced prawn/fish combo.

Sorry friend my channas only eat live. Wish i could get them to eat pellets or other, but i think there to far to hope for that now.

I have never fed my channa live food. They take bloodworm/earthworm and prawn readily. I would like to know the benefits if any of supplementing this with vitamins/spirulina still though.

As above, my WC pleuro`s eats pellets, took some time + starving them.

I would make a small batch and try it out, i wont hurt them. My only concern is that they might not eat the food you make becouse they can see/smell the veggies.

I know my snakeheads does everything it can, not to swallow some duckweed when he pick`s some up while hitting a pellet.
They will spit all the pellets and duckweed, and have another go at getting the pellet without the duckweed

This is simply not true... channa will eat ANYTHING lol, pellets are not a favorite but , bloodworms, shrimp, fish, live beef heart, anything that is meaty will be excepted... for pellets depends on the snakehead some will gobble it up others will eat it only if nothing else is available, I’ve even seen some eat flake...

Of course they love live food, that’s in there nature and great exercise!

I feed mine mainly on a mix of bloodworm and live meal worms which they take quite happily. Some times give a few dillies as well. They have become very impatiant waiting for the blocks to melt down though so iv taken to melting in a glass befor adding to the tank, other wise they were quite happy to take a whole block, stil frozen.

With regards to the meal worms i have take recntly to feeding them with regular fishfood to boost their nutritional value is this any help or is it a bit of a waste of time?

I feed both crickets and meal worms to mine as well, I found when growing them out the juvies did much better when I added insects to the mix,

Hi,it all depends on what your snakeheads are use to eat,its not easy to change their feeding habits. Its not true that they eat only live foods!
