So I thought as these guys are notoriously fast growers I would document his growth.

Here he is on day one looking kind of skinny. He was the only one in the tank with a broken black line that made him have a dot on his tail.

3 days later here he is all fattened up and happy

They do grow quick!

The most aggressive fish I've ever owned other than my band of p.caribe.

I still remember the time my juvi micropeltes (with a few feeders already in it's belly) ripped the first feeder my juvi jardini was able to catch right from its mouth.

thats a giant? we used to always get them in at petland on the east side. labeled "red line" snakehead

Petland in NY is where I used to get them for .99! and yes they always had them labeled as redlines! Brings back memories....

hype fish.. :) you always want what you can't get.. even where they are legal most are aware of their temperament and you don't see that many around.. I wouldn't say they are any worse than a big aimara, dovii, jardini and the other grumpy ones.. they are just slightly smarter.. :) fantastic fish that takes its keeper.. :D

OP; I do not in any way try to belittle your fish, it's amazing and I've kept a few myself.. great fish for the right owner but not the killer-baby-eating-will-snatch-your-kid-on-land-monster it's made out to be..

Effettbranamn I know all about the fish, I've watched quite a few documentaries on them and have kept many different kinds of snakeheads back in Europe. It's just very hard to get hold of the giant because its not readily available. I've been after a larger growing snakehead for over a year now as they aren't Ilegal in Alberta and the only ones I've been able to find are gachua (8") and the dwarf indian snakeheads. which will be a waste of my 225 3 foot wide tank.

I got the fish because I really wanted a larger growing snakehead and no shock or wow factor was included :P Either way hes growing really nicely eating prawns
