So, which animal would you rather have and why???

Wow, 1 1/2 hours on MFK home page and not one vote???

i never had a chinchilla but i do have 2 ferrets. i think they make great pets. playful, full of energy, intelligent.

I've have both and each one has its pros and cons. Chinchillas are very soft and fun to hold but thier not as social with you as a ferret could be. You can tame down a chinchilla but it never really wants to play with you. Chinchillas also need to have a dust bath regularly and that can be a mess. I usually set up the dust bath in the tube and close the door. Chinchillas teeth always grow so chew things are also needed. A ferret will want to play with you and look for your attention but if you let them out you need to make sure you "ferret proof" your house or room. If thier head can get in, their body can follow. Also a ferret if not raised properlly while young or if it happens to lose its hearing will bite you very hard. Young ferrets use noise to tell if they are biting to hard. If you never reinforce that biting hard is bad, it can lead to some trouble down the line. Trust me i know. Good luck on your choice cuz i picked both! 3 ferrets & 4 chinchillas

Ferrets smell. Even when you take out the gland, they still smell a little. But they are definitely a more interesting animal. They're fun to watch and play with.

Chinchilla's die easier/ higher maintenance. They aren't as easy to handle as a ferret. They're more of a cuddler. Cute as hell though. Make great coats!

I'v always wanted a ferret ever since I was little. Now I have 1 named sprocket. I didn't get my ferret because their any better than the next furry creature though, I got him because I love ferrets. But after doing some research, I did find out that ferrets a smarter, more playful, more lifespan, and smellier (but not to much wores) than other small furry pets.

1. you can teach a ferret to use a litter box, go for walks, and and teach them tricks (with enough paceients.)

2. A ferret will stay playful for a longer time than others.

3. Ferrets are sopossed to live to 7-8 years, but I have tons of ferret buddies out were I live and ALL of their ferrets have lived to 11, 12, 13, and one 14 years. So I asked how did you get them to live that long? and they said we feed ares, Nutro® MAX® CAT KITTEN roasted chicken flavor kitten food. Its soposed to increase their lifespan to the above ages. But enless you have a ferret that has two small black dots in his/hers right ear, then that means that a Marshall farms™ ferret one dot means your ferret has been spayed or nudered, and the other dot means that the ferret has been desented. So if thats the case then you need to keep that ferret on Marshall's ferret food for 1 year, so that they will make your ferret registered.

Sorry for the long lesson, but yeah I like ferrets more and this is why.

P.S. ferrets arn't rodents, like a chinchila.
