Cichlid ID

I have had this guy for about 6 months now, trying to figure out what type of African Cichlid he is. Any help is appreciated, also though he is the dominate in my tank, and he seems to beat up my Jack Dempsey on a daily basis, is there anything I could do to limit the aggression or are they just not compatible as tank mates? My tank is a 55 G.
Any suggestions, or help would be appreciated.

First problem is Africans are way more aggressive than most ca.
Second they require different water parameters. Best to keep either Africans or ca separately for these reasons.
