Hi, I picked up these cichlids from my work a while ago, each is about 7cm now, but they came in as Aequidens diadema and I am not sure if they are actually this, can anyone give a positive ID? Thank you

I would say a stressed Aequidens Sp. Definitely not a keyhole or true parrot. If it is not aequidens I would say the only other possibility is a burjurquina sp. but i actually beleive that your original ID is correct, the face markings look like A. diadema
Thank you, yes. I was almost certain they were in the Aequidens family, but was not sure if they were diadema because I couldn’t find any similar juvenile pictures online. The one with darker colouration stays that colour constantly and is dominant (it was dominant in the shop as well) and the other sometimes goes darker but usually remains the lighter colour because it gets picked on a bit. I plan to move them to a 6ft eventually. Excited to see how they turn out
