So I either have two males and a female or 2 females and a male. All three get along no issues . My question is if 2 pair off what are the chances the odd fish out would be able to live with a Group of 9 geo redhead tapajos and 9 albino threadfin acaras. I gave “heard and read” that they are no really aggressive but will eat smaller fish. But Google will tell you whatever you want to hear if you search enough. Anyone with experience?

I kept 2 mesoheros gephyrum (more than likely what you actually have) & an atromaculatum with emperor tetras, hemiodus, pictus for a number of years before moving the fish on because I didn’t have a pair of either.
They are way less aggressive and predatory then festae- IME… this was in a 180 with high flow and sump

I kept mine in a 6ft tank, with some Geophagines (including Acarichthys) , but .just a thought........ they are from very different water chemistry than those from the "east" of the Andes in the soft, low pH waters of the Tapajos .
Mesoheros are from "west of the Andes" where water is more alkaline.

Yeah I was looking into all of that seeing if it’s possible to keep them together the ph would be on the extreme high end to what the geos and threadfin scan tolerate and the lowest the mesoheros could tolerate. I may just do a separate tank for the odd man out. They’re only 4 inches but already showing some mixing potential color wise

Sounds like you had a good looking tank going. Your are right I most likely have the gephyrum ones since the ornatus are in a part of Colombia that will get tore up by guerilla groups.
