Is there any reason, water quality wise, why you can not use clay flower pots in an aquarium, the kind you would find at home depot, lowes etc. Wondeing if it effects the water quality in a negative way? I was planning on using them as caves. Thanks for any help.

There are fine. Its the most popular ugly aquarium decor ever. When people run out of money to setup their tank they go straight for the backyard and snag flower pots...

I personally think they are horrendous. I'd sooner use Gerbil Tubing (yeah the colorful stuff lol) or large pvc pipe coat them with aquarium safe silicone then cover in gravel and sand for a natural look. ... Suppose you could do that with the clay pot too.. make it look like an underwater Pueblo lol

i have one in my 55 that my convicts use to breed in. it's hideous, but you are completely right when you say that when people run out of money they go straight to the backyard :p

You can also get pots that are colored, like at home depot. I have had some for many yrs, never a problem.
