Hi folks, thanks in advance for your help! I have a 3.5" leopard ctenopoma that I purchased from a LFS where she had been surrendered for eating smaller fish in a community tank. She came with 1 cloudy eye, which I began treating while I had her in quarantine. I started with a week of melafix, saw no improvement. After another week I did a round of erythromycin, which also showed no change. I started aquarium salts at heaping TBS/5 gallon and kept her quarantined in the hospital tank for another 2 week. She has always been active and eager for food, so after more than a month in quarantine I wrote it off as an old injury. She eats a mix of hikari carnivore and tubifex worms, and for special occasions home-bred guppy fry from one of my other tanks.
At that point she joined the tank 55 gallon with my young Senegal bichir pair. They all have gotten along well for this past month; she bosses the bichirs around and they ignore her. This tank has been set up and stable since fall of 2020. My water values are 0 ammonia/0 nitrite/0 nitrate, my ph is between 7.6-7.8 (my tap has a high ph and is hard like rocks--I drip acclimate all newcomers).
Last night the ctenopoma's OTHER eye clouded over. She's still eating, but is slightly less active. By the way she's responding to me I suspect her vision is impaired. Last night I dosed with praziquantel in case it's some kind of fluke? The bichirs are unchanged.
The first 2 pictures are her "original" cloudy eye (top recent, next from quarantine). The final photo is her new cloudy eye. I'm not sure what my next step is here. An antibiotic like kanamycin that acts on gram negative bacteria, in case it's something the erythromycin couldn't touch? I appreciate any wisdom you folks might have!
