I'm surprised this surprised you, For all practical purposes a fish will eat any other fish it can swallow, clown loaches are predatory, the bigger they get the more predatory they are. In the wild they eat worms, insects, snails, crustaceans and small fishes, guppies fit right in there!

I had a group of clown loaches in an aquarium once and they ate the bellies out of several pregnant live bearers, platies and mollies. They can be vicious.

I have a 7" CL that ate half of a silverside. Kinda took me by surprise cause i dumped the silversides in for my dats...

one of my clown loaches goes after feeders that it cant eat just cause the other fish chase and eat them

i got my bettas that i used to have to eat feeder guppies

Not surprising for me. Loaches go for almost any food you can drop and that includes small fish.
