Hello. I have experienced this with sudden ph drop or ph crash. Clown loach need a fairly stable ph. The fish should be fine in a couple days with proper water chemisty. It is not a fungus.

Unfortunately I had the same problem with a school of loaches I have. I lost 5 out of the 9 I have. My 3 tanks I have didnt crash as a result of the ph. I keep my tanks between 7.9-8.4 as I have CA/SA cichlids and they are all doing well. Only my clown loaches were affected, so I treated them with a salt solution/partial water changes every 3 days as well as raising the temp to 86 for 10 days straight. This was not an ich problem but more of a fungal problem from what I could tell as there were not any spots on the loaches, but a sheen of white fungal matter. I do 35% water changes weekly on my tanks as well as very good filtration, alot of oxygen flow and a very good diet. I have not had this problem a rise again. I replaced the other 4 and now they are all doing great/ Sorry for your loss.....
