just purchased a 20 long, an aqua clear 50 power filter, some brownish sand for it to burrow, and some rocks for it to impersonate. its a start but i have a lot to get still and even more to learn as the tank devolpes and readys up for its new inhabitants. cant wait!!!!! :headbang2

i am def a newb with puffers in general, but i have a huge facination with these creatures and any knowledge would be appreciated.

pics to come!!!!!!!

fully freshwater, no tankmates they are very predatory, very aggressive and if something that could be food passes by it while its sitting waiting for food, then it becomes food. not completely sure of diet it would take i will include a link to the puffer pedia page for congo puffer for you. but yeah puffers are very interesting fish and definitely one of, if not my favorite fish i have ever kept. i believe that certain congos can change color to adapt to the substrate in the tank, not completely sure, pufferpunk would be the best one to answer that and pretty much any question you could have about your puffer or any puffer for that matter.

Beware, it WILL bite you! ;) Be sure to fishless cycle the tank before you add the puffer.

fishless? is this important? jw. the tank it is still be set up.

well soo much for pictures at this point... my phone decided that it was no longer going to send pictures today. ill have to borrow a camera later

Congrats on getting a congo puffer... definitely one of the most interesting puffers imo... or maybe its just cause mine is un-usually active and almost always starts swimming around when i'm near the tank...

feed crayfish and freshwater clams to trim the beak

Feeder fish are really bad for your puffer. It will result in fatty liver disease.
