First post here. I produced these last year from a male Black Convict and a female Blood Parrot. I had a spare 55 gallon in my kids room that had a few bristlenose plecos, a school of serpae tetra, one black convict, one Blood Parrot and 2 gold severums for a while and one afternoon my 5 year old came out of his room and told me that “his fish tank had made lots of baby fish”. I wasn’t surprised to see fry from the two since CA cichlids will breed anything, but watching them grow has been an adventure. These seem to have gotten the slow growing gene from the Blood Parrot parent. These fish are well over a year and a half old now. The male is 5 inches or so, the female is less than 4 inches. I left them all in the parent tank till about 6 months ago. They all had a normal body shape/functional mouths and all looked like typical convicts until I separated these two, gave them a 55 of their own and culled what remained of the rest. The male sort of reminded me of a young A. Citrinellus and the female looked a bit like a C. Nanoluteus. I’m curious to see what they mature into and wanted to share. I’ll try to update the thread a few times over the next couple months with new pics.
