I have a 25 gallon cube tank 18x18x18, and I have to figure out what to use for a stand.

There are some nice old square card tables that I could use, but I don't want to try it if it's not a viable possibility. The tables are heavy and sturdy, wooden with metal legs and frame. I will try to get some pictures soon. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am not very knowledgeable about aquarium stands and the forces involved, and I wouldn't want anything to transpire. If I can't use the table or maybe something like a bed stand, I might end up building a stand.

Thank you for your help

You should be fine. For my smallest tank (35gal) im useing some cheap night stand I bought from a used furniture store. It cost me 10 bucks and even looks more sturdy than my store bought stand for the120.

the table feels quite sturdy, but it is old and I don't know how strong the top surface is. Also, I noticed a slight gap underneath one of the corners of the tank, which I assume is not good

Eh, the table top looks sturdy enough but it's the legs I would be concerned about. Because they fold like that I would be concerned about them collapsing under constant weight. Is there any way you can reinforce them or even better replace them with sturdier wooden legs?

no way would i trust it and it looks very tacky... those legs look like they could buckle from any direction and with a flat bottom tank not being supportted proprerly on all four corners and throughout you can rish cracking the bottom from warps the table might have. plenty of smaller tv stands at thrift shops that are much studier and wont look so ehh...

not the metal legs I was expecting also! lol I would hit the hardware store up just buy some pine or better yet some table legs if they sell them drill them in and give it a stain then your good to go ;)

Or remove the top and place the tank on the floor but fish tanks on floor are not much fun plus you wouldn't need the table for that.

as for the gap I would just get some thick foam and a cement tile the right size, you can get wooden shims that will also work, I just tend to stay away from wood when I can.

only other method that will work is bracing it to the wall but thats a more costly method and if you have plaster walls wont give a better result as wood legs.

Hope this helps.

Yea, I'm inclined to agree that I either need to reinforce the table or use something else. I have a night stand that would be perfect except that it is like 15x15 and the tank is 18x18. That is unacceptable, right?

I'll be looking around some thrift stores and hardware stores to see what I can come up with
