My female crayfish molted last week, and has been this diluted blue color ever since. She used to be brown. Is this normal? What causes this? Will she continue to turn more blue after each molt? She is about 3" long right now

Have you used any medications in the past that contain dye?

It is pretty common. I have some marmokrebs (self cloning) that are sometimes blue, sometimes brown, sometimes marbled. Don't know what causes the blue coloring.

It's normal. Sounds like you have a species of swamp crayfish and they always vary slightly in color throughout their lives. The only time to worry is if you notice a drastic change in color in a short period of time... That is usually caused by stress. Also note, it takes almost 2 days after molting for a cray to turn its full color

Next time she comes out of hiding, I'll take a pic

No meds or dyes here

It's been maybe 7-8 days since she molted. What concerns me is how drastic of a color change it is. She went from brown/grey to a grey/blue after one molt. I'll keep an eye on her

I've heard things such as a change to the PH level in the water, and diet can cause a cray to change color when they molt...

its pretty normal... no need to worry.... this can happen because of the ph level of the water or its diet... my crayfish is blue.... bt sometimes the colour changes from dark blue to whitish colour...
