Hi guys just need some clearing up on the latest development.
My crayfish is hiding a lot and I have noticed she is carrying eggs.
I guess since I don't have a male on the tank nothing will come out of this eggs correct??

Many thanks

hi...what the color of the eggs?

my cray has given birth few wks ago and the eggs i saw is black...
but now i see her stomach..there is alot orange red eggs...
i put her together with 1 male..hoping she breed again..ahaha

any craykeepers out there? provides some advice for us ;)

unsure about the egg part, but that pic looks just like mine, only smaller :)

P. alleni (your cray) are internally fertilized and the female stores sperm packets until she developes eggs to fertilize them with. Females can store enough sperm for several batches of eggs. Your female mated before you bought her since they won't lay unfertilized eggs.

Everytime I have caught a crawdad w/ eggs they were dark brown. But I dont know why it would take the energy to develope eggs unless she somehow got fertilized. Hope this helps!
