Hi I have 2 small Pleco's only a few inches; earlier I added a crayfish to it, the crayfish hid for around 4-5 hours in a cave then came out and went after my pleco's; I knew this would happen just not as aggressively, so I immediately took him out, if I put them back together would he go back for them or could the Pleco's defend themselves?

Cheers!

Crayfish eat fish. Its not rocket science.

No worries - never appologize for asking a question!

I honestly don't know, all I use crayfish for is to feed my puffer...
I've had a few live a few days longer then expected with pleco's in there, and nothing came about from it.
If you cherish your pleco's more then the crayfish then seperate them!
Pleco's can be aggressive, but most aren't .. so just by guessing I'd say no they can't defend themselves.
They don't have pincher's!

Hope this helped. :)

Thanks a bunch that really helped! I actually bought the new tank for the crayfish however I've fell in love with my Pleco's I absoloutly love them, so I think for the time being I'll just have too separate them!

Thanks again!

the pleco maybe a little too small but I think they should be fine, just monitor the tank keep the crayfish well fed but just keep in my that the crayfish will definitely snip at the pleco's fins and tail but i was able to keep crayfish with plecos quite fine

yea thats your best bet is to sperate them when I was young I caught caught some crayfish and snuck them in my moms guppy tank ...... I could not sit down for a week lol and to top it off I had to buy her all new guppies out of my allowance ... lol I learned my lesson

No, the Plecs can't and won't be able to defend themselves against the Cray. Oftentimes you can get by with fast top fish in a cray tank but seldom are you ever able to have tiny bottom fish in a tank with a Cray in it.

No problem Doogle.. and other question's you have don't hesitate to ask me, I'll try my best to answer them!!
