Just a few pictures of my 'babies'. . . I really need to get a show tank that has no scratches in the glass/acrylic. . . :(

Tapajos 1 ....one of the nicest pikes out there.....congrat's!!!!!!!!
Are they eating yet??? The shape of there head with their eyes protuding
the way they do makes look like small croc's...
They seem to almost have a yellow head with a red body...
Mine are opposite, red head with yellow body......

I was hoping to post a few pic's of mine(Cr. lugubris Red face)
on your post so people can see the differences in the red pike..
(there is much confusion with pike I.D. as we all know)...
I hope this is O.K. with you...if not let me know and next time I will post
seperatly....thanks

They seem to darken and lighten depending on their mood...
at times displaying more red and other times more yellow...
The bottom fins on some of them have a thin white line thru them...
Can't really tell M or F yet...kind of shy.......

Peanut...if you have two females and two males and if I also have
two & two we should make a swap......LOL

those look like atabapo 1's not lugubris red face to me....nice ones at that
That's what I thought at first but before I bought them I asked for a pic
(wish I still had it) and I was told the fish that I am buyig are the same as the pic.
in the pic the fish had a red head an an intensive yellow body....
atabapo 1 has an all red body...I think...in the last pick you can clearly
see the yellow behind the head...I guess time will tell.....thanks

I DO think you have Crenicichla sp. 'red faced lugubris/lugubris red face'. Not sure which way is correct, or if its Crenicichla cf. sp. 'red faced lugubris' yadda yadda yadda. Pretty sure they aren't sp. 'atabapo I' mainly because of the coloration, and because of the fact that there is no humeral blotch behind the pectoral fin, and no suborbital mark below the eye. sp. 'atabapo I' have both of these, at one point in their development, at least from what I have seen.

Plus the body coloration isn't fully correct. The strong red head and yellowish body are quite different also. Regarding the white stripe in the pelvic fin though, A LOT of Lugubris pikes get that. ;)

Very exciting! I think your species of Crenicichla is much more attractive than sp. 'atabapo I' as well, plus rarer. Congrats.

Did you get them from Oliver? If so then yes, that strengthens my thoughts that they are indeed sp. 'red faced lugubris'. I attached a picture of one he sent me when he had them, he is current out at the moment though. Its a little younger than the adult picture you posted, so its about the size of yours I'm guessing.

Super awesome man! Please keep us updated on them. I could most definitely be wrong, wouldn't be the first time. Might be sp. 'atabapo I' after all. Time will tell eh? :)

Btw. . . .two males and three females. ;)

Ya, these did come from Oliver.......I see you arguments...I guess
time will tell...Crenicichla are so damn exciting!!!!!!!

These are the mellowest pikes I have ever seen(I have not seen
to many thou, but the Lent's are crazy compared to these guys...
Maybe when I put them in the big tank things might change....

Any up-dates on your pikes??? - - would like to see some recent pics !

They look different (to me) than atabapo 1.... certainly are not tapajos 1.
Very nice, uncommon Crenicichla, congrats to you (and Oliver) !!!!

Sobs looking at your Tapajos I make me really miss mine

That's what I love about Crenicichla; their colours can be so unnaturally beautiful
Red is red, yellow is yellow etc
