Cuban cichlid sexing help

Hello, I recently bought a cuban cichlid around 4 inches maybe abit bigger, wondering if anyone can help me sex him or her?

Looks male to me,
Females usually have a solid dark area in the dorsal, like the one below, males have black, but it is more mottled..

Also note her more streamlined, torpedo shaped profile.
Yours has a steeper male like profile, like the male I had below.

In the photo below, the female is about 4-5", the male around 10" or more.

I agree with duanes looks to be a male.
By around 2.5-3 inches my female was showing dark colouration and a black blotch in the dorsal fin.


Above a male around 7 inches
Below a female around 4 inches


Below the same pair with fry in spawning colouration.

thank you for the response, as i look at him more theres almost no black on the dorsal fin, oddly though he lives with an 8 inch male with no aggression
