I’ll be completely honest, I gave up on my shrimp tank as I thought they were all dead due to my lack of knowledge but just now looked at the tank and there’s 3 shrimp in there thriving. I’ve never changed water in this small tank and have no filtration or heater. The tank gets very little sunlight so there’s little algae on the walls and none of the plants have died but have actually been slowly growing plantlets all over in the Java moss. It’s perfectly clear, water test is showing good results but I’ll get a master test kit tomorrow so have a better accuracy on water parameters. Also the water isn’t yellow, it’s just the reflection of my camera flash image.jpgView attachment 1474697

I too have a shrimp tank with Hawaiian red shrimps. Brackish water.
Never changed the water in it for 6 years, only top up. All thriving, only dying from old age (lifespan of only 3-4 years).
Yours probably can become self sustaining

I’m just shocked because there’s so little plants but it’s been good for a while now

Always good to do some small feedings and water changes just to keep up, but yes it sounds like it’s doing fine on its own! Congrats!
