I recently made a post of my hair algae tanking over my tank, I havnt started treatment yet as I just got back from vacation and didn't want to start it before I leave for a week. But my main question is to prevent this in the future could I take plants I buy from my lfs and dip them in straight peroxide? Or would I need the mix it with water? Also could I do this to what's in my tank now?

My lfs sells driftwood with Java fern attached.. only problem is there usually covered in algae so would this rid the algae?

I've know memebers who have dipped with pure hydrogen peroxide and it was about 30 seconds. Then rinse with regular water without consequence.

I've seen some do a 50/50 mix with tankwater and soak for a couple of minutes. Same no prob.

Not sure about driftwood.

Maybe Wailua Boy Wailua Boy can help. He knows about this sorta stuff.

I dont think you can buy pure H2O2. The store H2O2 is 30% concentration. I don't soak in it but spray onto plants to kill algae. You don't need to rince it afterward as exposure to air will turn into water and O2.
