DIY - Quick Disconnect - For Canister Filter

Didn't know if I needed to put in DIY or setup. thought this would be a better place (I searched, only 1 thread, no solution resolved. Plus, 99% of threads are plywood builds)

So, Has anyone made quick-disconnects for canister filters?

I have a Magnum 220 with NO disconnects and is a pain to use. It's currently in the closet, but would like to use it again.

Thanks. Looking forward to any input.

You can buy the disconnects from any of the major online retailers, F&S, Big Al's, etc. The ones for the Magnum 350 might work, or one of the Eheim sets. I can't tell you exactly because I'm not familiar with that filter. You'll have to figure it out based on your tubing size. Alternatively, you can make one out of plumbing parts as shown below: Ball valves, a union, and hose barbs, but it's kind of bulky.

You can buy a ball valve or buy the quick disconnect from Marineland. I don't know how you can make DIY quick disconnect but ball valves and pre made quick disconnect is the way to go.

Thanks for the replies! Gonna work on making one tomorrow.

I would want to order from Marineland, but the disconnects are $18 each (I need 2 since 2 lines(in/out); thus $40 plus shipping).

I was in the same boat as you recently, I needed a set of disconnects and I was pretty disgusted at how much they cost, which is why I made the one in the picture above. But after I bought all the parts, I saved like 37 cents.
