Do loaches eat snails?

Some one told me that loaches eat snails, and can lower snail populations in an aquarium. Do they do this? What types of loaches?

I use skunk loaches to keep my snails in check.

Some loaches do, particulary Clowns. I would suggest not getting any loaches for snail control only. Get them because you like them and think they're cool!!!

Thank you for the info, I do not have a snail problem, I just wanted to know if loaches eat them.

I do not use my cl's for snail controll but I do suppliment thier diet 2x a week with snails. I have 2, 10gl. tanks set up just for snails.

I've only kept 3 kinds of loaches -- Clown, Zebra and Yo-Yo -- and they all ate snails ...

of the three, I prefer yo-yo (also called Pakistani) ... but if you have a big tank (125G or larger), with other big fish, then clowns are a good choice ... and if you have a small tank (30G or less), than zebras are a good choice
