Are the different shapes of Dovii location specific or is it pot luck? Some Dovii I really dislike others I love and would like someone to enlighten me?
For me I hate big nuchal humps on Dovii and up turned mouths like this...

Only my opinion, I'm not even a fan of Mel o's... Is one nic and one Costa Rican?

Which location is the more stream lined and less tall bodied.... My perfect Dovii is jagsters come to think of it...

I don't think it is as much location related, as much as just plain species diversity.

I prefer the more streamline shaped dovii as well from pics and owning a nicaraguan (which was streamlined and very blue/violet) for years I have been under the impression that the Costa Ricans were shorter and stockier as well as yellower although I I must say I've never seen a verifiable Costa Rican in person

It all lies within genetic makeup of the species. So Location does play a big part.

This is what I've gathered from others and with my own experience.

Nics have a more streamlined elongated profile with a rounded snout. Costa ricans have a tall profile with more pointed snout. The gold or yellow version you pictured above is a location specific variety out of costa rica if I remember correctly and I cannot remember the specific area right now. It might be rio heredia

Based on what you stated above the nic variety would suit you better aesthetically. The nuchal hump is probably going to be a genetic deal like with amphs.

I did think that about the hump, probably best to avoid a female if you don't want to increase hump size as with midas then...
Thanks, sorry to anyone with Costa Rican spoon faced Dovii, hate is a strong word, really aren't to my taste would have been a better choice of words!-)
