Looking to do two projects and thought of this stuff.
I know PVC is better to use and is safe, but Im looking for the black color as well.
Is this kind of pipe safe to use in an aquarium? Or any idea of a black pipe, that is safe, even if I need to cut the pipe for the project..
Its the drain pipe you put at the end of your gutter to direct water

It should be fine. I'm not sure of the plastic type, but I believe it is HDPE, which is fish safe.

what about ABS pipe, is it fish tank safe.

Some say yes, most say no. ABS is for waste water and it is said that it will leech toxins into the surrounding water over time. Best to stay away from it and just spray paint PVC.

I have used ABS pipe in my tanks for years without problems. I would be much more worried about toxins leaching from paint than ABS. ABS is used in food and drink containers, so it must not be all that toxic.

I was looking up ABS and it does show some milk bottles and other food grade plastics are made out of it. So I was thinking it would be safe, but Id rather know for sure. I have heard several people use it, and some say not to. So its a mixed review. Since a piece will be going into two of my ray tanks, I wanted to check for sure that its safe.
I know it does float, and Il have a plan for that, but just wanted to make sure.
Was also planning on taking a 24" piece of it, cutting it in half so thats its a half circle and making a overflow out of it.

abs is fine, people that say not to use it are usually people that never have. hell, i have abs in my shark tank and have been using it for years in fw setups.
