  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I like the shape of mopani, but both do the same thing.
If you don’t want a lot of tannins, manzanita is the way to go. You can get large, thick pieces from some sellers.

I like the Manzanita for the reason Deadeye mentioned they come in large pieces where the Mopani has what i call more of the spider look and you can build structures in the tank

I've only used mopani, and love the pieces I have, but yeah the water is like tea if you don't use purigen. I put some in when I got it over 3 years ago, changed it after 6 months, then went probably a year before changing it, and still have that 3rd batch in there a year and a half later, might not need it anymore.

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate it. I LOVE Manzanita but hate that white slimy stuff. Everyone said it will go away. Mine NEVER did. I'm just looking to put a small piece in the tank. I want the Angelfish to be the centerpiece. I was just wondering if one was better than the other.

my flagtail went to town on the manzanita center piece I have and in a week all the slimy white stuff was removed, also never saw it again.

+1 for flagtail extermination services

same would probably work for smaller shrimps

Thanks for the info. 😊

I’d go with manzanita or mopani. Shocked the white stuff never went away. Bristlenose get rid of the stuff overnight
